IS MODREN CIVILIZATION IS A FAILURE ?

"Modern Civilization is a failure?"

If the meaning of ‘civilization’ is to be taken as ‘organized way of
social life on a global scale’, then I think the present civilization
can be considered to be good. But if the meaning of ‘civilization’ is
to be taken as ‘best possible’ way of civilized life but may not be on
a global scale, then I think no where in the present world there exists
any such civilization. It really existed once but now it is found no
where.No doubt mOdern civilization has achieved excellence in eyeopening and
gigantic discoveries. But the question is whether it has lifted up
humanity to excellence or not? The way we are surviving ,being an up to
date civilization with all the great gifts of modern world is just like
leading or self to a blind alley. 

Its hilarious how man progressed over
days and did tiring job to extract the best out to improve his
civilization but all he got in return is a civilization without moral
values, ungurrantted future and warn out picture of what really we call
a better and peaceful civilization.
Technical progress has destroyed the delicate balance of Nature and
created the danger of nuclear devastation. The mad desire for profit
has brought about a condition of enormous poverty in the Third World.
Though the cold war between the superpowers has subsided, an
unprecedented growth in arms is escalating conflict in other parts of
the world. Humanity and human values are the greatest victims of modern
civilization.
Accelerating advances in science and technology have enabled humans to
reshape the world more rapidly than has growth in understanding of the
risks as well as the benefits of these advances.
Our modern society is engaged in polishing and decorating the cage in
which man is kept imprisoned. ~Swami Nirmalananda, Enlightened

When Albert Schweitzer came to Oslo to receive the Nobel Prize for
peace in 1952, he declared, "Man has become superman ... but the
superman with superhuman power has not risen to the level of superhuman
reason. To the degree his power grows he becomes more and more a poor
man.... It must shake up our conscience that we become all the more
inhuman the more we grow into superhumans."
To label something a failure like our modern civilization and let it be
for the very matter that it has a lot of drawbacks, is just as guilty
as causing the problems themselves.
Point being, we should never give up, mankind is capable of so much, I
step outside and I see it every day. What we can accomplish is just a
thought away, if we all took the time and came together to accomplish it.
